Social Impacts P6, M2.

                                                         (P6)
Effects On Local Communities.
Shops will close down as online shopping is easier and more reliable for some. Other shops create websites to sell their products meaning their will not be any shops where you can go to purchase their products. If there are shops there may not be much products as they might expect people to purchase online. Also it might not be open as often as it used to. Many shops in the area will close because they cannot compete with other online businesses. People would also lose their jobs as with computers you might not need so many people.

Economic Effects.
Online shopping allows people to make orders making it unlikely that whoever you buy from will run out of stock. This would also increase demands by the product makers and cause shops/websites to order more. Consumption would also increase as if there are no shops in your area then you can order online thus increasing the amount of products that they sell.

Changes To The Way People Work.
People might work at offices or would have computer related jobs. Also some people might be able to work from home. If someone has made an order it is easier to keep track and to identify who made the order, making everything more organized. People at work wont have to move around to much perhaps to check stock or to find a specific item as a computer can easily do that if its all connected.

Unequal Access To IT Locally, Nationally And Globally.
Not everyone has access to the internet as some parts of the world are not connected to it. If you live faraway from a telephone exchange then you might not be able to access the internet at all and they wont build more for only a few people. Not everyone in the world has internet as some countries that are poor or not as economically developed as other countries might not have internet and if they do it might be in a small area.

                                                         (M2)
Cyber Bullying
Cyber bullying has become a serious problem as whoever is being bullied might not tell anyone and it is difficult to identify the bully if no one talks about it making it difficult to deal with. People can be insulted or threatened and nobody will know about it.
A way to deal with it would be to block messages or to tell somebody you trust or just talk to the school or try to get the person who is sending them to stop.

Phishing
The use of IT makes it easier for people to steal personal details such as credit card details and they can do this by pretending to be someone or something that they are not, for example someone could pretend to be a bank and send somebody a form requesting their person information. A solution would be to make sure they are who they say they are and perhaps ring a bank or whoever they are pretending to be to confirm what has happened.

Denial of Service Attacks
These can cause websites to crash or temporarily go down until they company or who ever it belongs to can get it back up. This can disrupt a company by damaging reputation as well as causing them to lose money. DoS attacks are difficult to stop and there are multiple ways it can happen making it difficult to find the right kind of defence to stop it.

While it may be difficult to block DoS attacks it is not impossible. For example; A company can set up routers and firewalls and can configure it so that it stops ping attacks and invalid IP addresses which are a common method for DoS attacks.

Servers. Most companies will have servers and if properly configured a might be able to stop DoS attacks or at least minimize the damage. A server can set a limit or block resources used by applications as well as dealing with requests from 'clients' that are trying to get access.

If a company were to have access to massive amounts of bandwidth as well as multiple network devices then they could handle the DoS attack long enough to counter it.
